About Me
Hi! My name is Laura
Bender and I am excited to be here at Horace Mann for another great
year! I am teaching 1st grade English Language Arts
again this year. This will be my 11th year teaching 1st
grade! I love to watch as students grow to be independent readers
and writers!
I graduated from WSU
with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Spanish. I
also have my endorsement in ESOL (English as a Second or Other
Language).
My
son, Oliver, and I live outside of Conway Springs, a small town
southwest of Wichita, where I grew up and went to school. We live
in the country on our family’s wheat farm. Oliver is a 2nd
grade student here at Horace Mann. Some of my hobbies include
swimming, boating and water skiing, reading, watching movies and
baking.
