I am a native Kansan, and I have lived in almost every part of
the state. I graduated from St. Xavier High School in Junction
City, KS. After high school I attended Labette Community
college and then finished my degree at Emporia State
University. This is my second year at Horace Mann. I teach
Physical Education as well as coaching Cross Country and Track.
I also coach girls' basketball at West High. I love anything
related to sports, but basketball is definitely my favorite. I
am a huge Michael Jordan fan, and it is rare to see me without a
pair of his shoes or clothing on.
As a Physical Education teacher, I feel it is very important for
my students to be very active and engage in many different types
of activity. We use the Hellison's model as a motivation and
behavior system for our students. This helps the students be
accountable for their behavior. Each 9 weeks, the students are
assessed on 3 of our 6 standards. Our Physical Education page
goes into more detail about the activities and practices we use
in our class.
