Horace Mann NewsBrief!
Welcome
to another year at Horace Mann!
We are so pleased to have you as a part of our Horace Mann
family this school year!
We are off to a great start and appreciate your support as we
work together this year to get the best education possible for our
students!
We
have many excellent teachers
and staff members.
Our Horace Mann teachers and staff are working hard to make
sure our students are welcomed into a positive learning environment.
Please talk to our staff members if you have any questions or
know of ways we can support your student in the classroom!
Congratulations,
Horace Mann students and staff--we passed our State Reading (83%)
and Math (86%) Assessments.
Our last year’s test scores went up in both reading and
math! Thanks,
students and staff, for working so hard learning, teaching, and
being the best that we can be!

We
would like to invite our parents out to our first PTO and Site Council Meetings on Monday, September 8, at 5:30
and 6:30 p.m.
These are great opportunities to get involved in what is
happening at Horace Mann and to learn more about our school!
We welcome our parents and volunteers!
Progress
Reports will be sent out September 12.
This is a great time to see how students are doing and to
help them at home with homework.
Remember, our goal is to READ 15 minutes a night for all
grades!
The
PTO Fund Raiser Kickoff
is set for September 17!
Students will receive information on what we will be doing to
raise money to support our PTO school projects!
Let’s meet our goal of $10,000!
Our
Family Activity Night is
September 18 from 5:30-6:30 for grades K-4 and 6:30-7:30 p.m. for
grades 5-8.
A light supper will be provided from 6-7 p.m. in the
cafeteria.
Our focus will be on READING and how to make it work at home.
Sometimes,
we become aware of unique circumstances for our Horace Mann
families.
We are doing an all school Dress
Down Day ($1) on September 22 to raise money to be able to help
with these needs.
Our
Horace Mann classroom teachers are highly
qualified based on state certification for their curriculum
areas!
We do have a para in our Technology Lab working with our
students who has a BA degree plus a MA in Spanish!
Thanks to our teachers and all they do for our students!
To
help reduce
traffic congestion, we have been putting out orange traffic
cones in the morning right in front of the school to make it a drop
off only area.
Drivers should pull in next to the orange cones, drop off
students, and drive off.
Please do not park in the cone area before school or you
could receive a traffic ticket. We
also have Safety Patrol
students at the cross walk helping students cross the street safely.
