99% Award Winner
October 2007

This 9 weeks’ 99% Award winner is Rodrigo Retana. He is an outstanding example for other students at our school.  He is respectful and kind to others in the classroom and halls.  To those younger than him, he is a leader and always ready and willing to help someone out, be it student or teacher.  New teachers in the building got to know him quickly because of his willingness to help out and his respectful attitude in the halls.  He also gives his time to stay after school and help out his peers who need some extra help.  He is a strong student with a great work ethic.  Outside of the classroom, he is an anchor for our Friday morning broadcasts, a “Student Leader of Technology”, a captain of the soccer team and proud to be a part of Horace Mann Dual Language Magnet.  When his name was suggested for the 99% Award, the Middle School Teachers unanimously agreed he was most deserving.
