Awards and Recognitions
Horace Mann students and teachers work hard
academically to meet local and state curriculum expectations.
You will find teachers teaching and students learning as you go from
classroom to classroom. Teachers work together through staff
development to bring the best possible instruction to students to
meet state standards.
Horace
Mann's Campus Improvement Plan guides student learning school wide
in reading, writing, and math goals/objectives that are tied to
district expectations. As a result, Horace Mann has received
local, state, and national recognition for the dual language program
and academic performance.

Horace Mann met the Kansas State Assessment
Reading and Math Goals: Horace Mann's
grade 3-8 students are assessed over math and reading standards in
the spring. These assessments determine if a school makes
Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) to meet federal No Child Left Behind
(NCLB) mandates. Horace Mann has made AYP for two years in a
row!
We made the KSDE 'Standard of Excellence' in
math: Horace Mann's
8th grade math students were awarded the Kansas State Department of
Education's 'Standard of Excellence' for their outstanding math
scores!
Horace Mann received the KSDE 'Challenge
Award': Horace Mann was also
awarded the Kansas State Department of Education's 'Challenge Award'
for the math scores and our students strong performance!
